Aerospace Development of DO-178C-compliant software for aviation systems
Safe software not only plays an important role in the automotive industry, but also in aviation. DO-178C, which contains significant changes compared to the previous version DO-178B, serves as proof of this.
Investments in the development of software for aviation systems require strict compliance with industry standards such as DO-178C. In 2013, the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAA) established DO-178C as a recognized means of demonstrating airworthiness. The FAA uses DO-178C, officially called "Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification", as a guideline for determining software safety. It therefore considers a software component to be airworthy if it has been developed in accordance with DO-178C. There are some significant changes from the previous DO-178B standard - so it is important to understand the differences.
