Diehl Defence presented the comprehensive relaunch of its highly mobile counter-UAV system 'Kinetic Defence Vehicle' (KDV) at this year's Enforce Tac. The known system will in future operate under the new name 'GARMR'.

With the integration of new types of interceptor drones and an AI-supported detection and decision-making architecture, GARMR (named after a watchdog from Nordic mythology) is experiencing a significant enhancement in combat value and sets new standards in mobile drone defence.

GARMR is designed as a hybrid, modular system with a wide range of applications. It is suitable for the protection of critical civilian infrastructure (e.g. buildings or events) as well as for operation in high-intensity military combat scenarios. This flexibility results from the parallel use of two interceptor drone technologies: GARMR SRS (Short Range System) uses the CICADA interceptor drone with a catch net or warhead, while GARMR MRS (Medium Range System) additionally neutralizes targets with innovative interceptor drones. However, further effectors can be integrated for both ranges so that the system can be optimally adapted to the situation: from precise, controlled impact in sensitive civilian environments to performanceoptimized defence against complex military threats, even over longer distances.

Another key element of the relaunch of GARMR is the AI-supported detection, identification and prioritization of air targets. Modern algorithms automatically analyze sensor data, classify threats and support decisionmaking.

GARMR combines all the essential components of a modern counter-UAV system on a highly mobile platform. The detection sensor technology allows the early detection of a wide variety of air targets – from the smallest multicopters to larger military drone systems such as SHAHED or LANCET combat drones. Based on this, powerful identification modules ensure reliable classification and situation assessment.

With the relaunch of GARMR at Enforce Tac 2026, Diehl Defence underlines its commitment to provide effective, future-oriented and user-centric solutions in the field of mobile air defence and counter-UAV systems.
