Naval Group and Thales have announced a strategic partnership to enhance sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in France. This collaboration aims to boost national defense systems through cutting-edge AI technologies and secure communications.

The alliance between Naval Group and Thales represents a significant step towards strengthening France's independent technological innovations in defence. By joining forces, the two companies aim to develop advanced AI solutions tailored to the needs of French defence and security. Naval Group takes a 20 percent stake in cortAIx France and joins its governance while cortAIx is enriched with cutting-edge AI engineering applied to naval defence systems. Furthermore they opened a dedicated centre in the South of France, near Naval Group's site.

This partnership will focus on creating AI systems that enhance the operational efficiency of military units and improve decision-making processes. By integrating AI into naval and defence technologies, the collaboration seeks to maintain France's competitive edge in global defence.

The strategic initiative emphasises the importance of secure and sovereign AI, ensuring that France can independently develop and control its technological assets. Thales and Naval Group plan to invest in research and development to produce state-of-the-art solutions that address current and future challenges in the defence sector.

Through this collaboration, both companies are committed to supporting France's strategic autonomy, enhancing national security while fostering innovation within the defence industry.
