The technology group Rheinmetall and the Dutch specialist for heavy-duty trailers Nooteboom Trailers B.V. have concluded a cooperation agreement for the development and sales of military HET semi-trailer systems (Heavy Equipment Trailer). The cooperation includes the joint development, industrialisation and marketing of military heavy transport semi-trailer systems.

The partnership is a response to the significantly increasing demand for military off-road heavy transporters in Europe. This demand is driven by the growing deployment of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles as well as by large-scale procurement programmes of NATO for main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled howitzers. The collaboration strengthens the position of both companies in the field of military mobility and contributes to a resilient and competitive European defence industry.

The strength of the collaboration lies in the complementarity of the partners’ competencies. Nooteboom Trailers B.V. is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of civilian heavy transport systems, with decades of experience in the field of specialised trailers for payloads of up to 200 tonnes and an excellent reputation among logistics and heavy-transport specialists.

Rheinmetall contributes its proven expertise in the production of military trailers and superstructures, available cost-efficient industrial capacities and its international market access as part of one of the world’s leading defence groups.

Through the cooperation with Rheinmetall, Nooteboom Trailers B.V. is further developing its advanced technologies and expertise in the field of specialised transport solutions, thereby laying the foundation for further innovative developments, both in the military and in the civilian transport sector.

The joint solution complements the highly mobile tractor units of Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles with a suitable semi-trailer system, enabling Rheinmetall to offer complete, vertically integrated HET solutions. The integrated HET system is designed for transporting heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles, including recovery and engineer tanks.
