When you think of Rheinmetall, the first thing that comes to mind is land-based systems, or ammunition for them. However, Germany's largest armaments group is now also setting sail, which the purchase of NVL (Naval Vessels Lürssen) will make possible. All antitrust approvals have been obtained and the transfer has already taken place as of March 1. The seller is the Bremen-based shipyard group Lürssen, which intends to focus solely on yachts in future and is therefore divesting its naval subsidiary. The purchase price was also not disclosed. NVL reportedly has around 2,100 employees and generated a turnover of around 1.3 billion euros last year.
