The initial call-off from the underlying framework contract has a volume of approximately €63 million and was recorded in February 2026. The framework agreement also encompasses airburst ammunition and training ammunition in 30 mm calibre, with a duration of four years in this area. Additionally, spare parts and services are part of the agreement. The contract also includes an option for up to 29 additional Seasnake weapon systems.

The Seasnake 30 is a next-generation remotely operated naval lightweight gun designed for close-range defence. The system features not only the weapon but also modern daylight cameras, infrared sensors, and a laser rangefinder. It possesses automatic target recognition as well as the ability to track multiple targets simultaneously. The nominal maximum firing rate of the revolver cannon is 1,100 rounds per minute.

With its integrated airburst capability, the Seasnake 30 is particularly effective as an effector against aerial targets, such as for drone defence. Its low silhouette and compact stealth design also make it difficult for opposing sensors to detect the system.

With the order from Sweden, Rheinmetall achieves a significant market success and positions the Seasnake 30 for the first time with a NATO customer. The decision underscores confidence in the capabilities and future viability of Rheinmetall’s modern naval weapon systems. Moreover, the order strengthens the company's role as a reliable partner for maritime defence solutions within the alliance.
