Leidos has revealed the Sea Dagger, a next-generation Commando Insertion Craft (CIC) designed for the UK Commando Force (UKCF) and developed in collaboration with the Royal Navy. The platform combines speed, range, vehicle delivery, modular mission systems and advanced autonomy features, aiming to set new standards in operational agility for contested maritime environments.

Under the UKCF programme, 24 medium surface insertion craft will be built to deploy Commando Strike teams, tactical mobility platforms, offboard systems and combat loads from long range, supported by training and in-service maintenance packages. Capable of exceeding 40 knots, Sea Dagger incorporates Leidos technologies such as Trusted Mission AI, autonomous systems, integrated C2 and advanced weaponry into a design focused on resilience, maintainability and operational availability.

Adam Clarke, Senior Vice President and Chief Executive at Leidos UK & Europe, emphasised the system’s role in future operations: “Sea Dagger represents a pivotal step in equipping the UK Commando Force with the capability to operate with greater agility, survivability and intent in a complex and congested maritime environment. The Leidos design reflects our commitment to delivering resilient, future-ready platforms that can adapt to the complexities of modern warfare, ensuring capability, availability and operational advantage from day one.”

Aligned with the AUKUS Pillar 2 initiative on advanced technology collaboration and the UK Strategic Defence Review’s focus on warfighting readiness, Sea Dagger will provide rapid-response capabilities for missions ranging from coastal security to amphibious assault operations.
