The German Aerospace Center (DLR) has successfully conducted stand vibration tests on the Volocity air taxi from Volocopter. These tests were carried out on behalf of Volocopter to further improve the safety and efficiency of the air taxi.

The tested air taxi is the Volocity model. What makes it special is the arrangement of 18 electric motors in a circular elastic ring. "This feature poses a significant challenge for the aeroelastic vibration behavior," says test leader Keith Soal of the DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity in Göttingen (Germany). The vibration test revealed characteristic behaviors of the structure. These dynamic properties can thus be taken into account for specific flight maneuvers in flight control.
