Flamingo-1 was launched aboard the Twilight rideshare mission with SpaceX via Germany-based launch integrator Exolaunch. The satellite was deployed to its operational Sun-synchronous orbit of approximately 500-km in altitude. This marks a significant achievement for the company, which patented the operational concept of an optimized SDA mission.

Detect, Track and Characterise Space Objects

Flamingo-1, equipped with an optical sensor for space-based space surveillance, is a gamechanger for Europe, strengthening SDA efforts directly from orbit. The advanced optical instrument will detect, track and characterise space objects, such as debris and other satellites. Crucially, it will allow Vyoma and its customers to follow upon manoeuvring objects and derive insights into adversary actions and threatening behaviours of other satellites.

The satellite completed end-to-end tests on ground during the Summer of 2025, including vibration, thermal cycling invacuum and software. After arriving at the payload processing facility in Vandenberg in December 2025, one last round of tests was conducted to ensure the integrity and high performance of the satellite and its optical instrument.

As defence budgets rise and EU programmes expand, civil technology providers are becoming vital contributors to Europe’s strategic autonomy. The event will act as a neutral platform for dialogue between technology suppliers, integrators, and decision-makers shaping the next generation of European defence capabilities and aims to open doors between civil industry and defence procurement, providing practical insights.

"Secure, Deployable and Able to Adapt"

Vyoma’s second satellite, Flamingo-2, is currently in production and is planned for launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. It will be followed by the remaining satellites of Vyoma’s Flamingo constellation, to be deployed until 2029. The Flamingo constellation will keep custody of objects of interest and provide Domain Awareness updates in real time. The data generated from its satellites will also enable Vyoma to create its own proprietary catalogue of space objects.

Together, these missions mark a significant step forward in advancing space technologies that align with European strategic and security goals. Vyoma is fully committed to supporting European security effortst hrough innovation, space intelligence and the protection of critical infrastructure on the continent.

About Vyoma

Vyoma is a Munich-based company that leverages ground-based and space-based data to empower automated satellite operations and increase domain awareness in space. Founded in August 2020, Vyoma enables real-time space surveillance and traffic management of orbits around Earth. While space is becoming increasingly crowded, Vyoma provides safe, secure, and automated satellite operations services, drastically reducing mission costs for its customers.

Vyoma tenders to satellite operators, reinsurers, space agencies, and intelligence officers. Asa participant in the EU Commission and ESA programs for SDA technology development, Vyoma relies on a specialised workforce of 40+ engineers and scientists.
