Reliable fastening is mission-critical for land, sea, and air systems. Since 2011, HYTORC has supported the Bundeswehr with a customised hydraulic tool set for the GTK Boxer armoured vehicle, developed in cooperation with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (now part of KNDS). The 28-piece kit enables safe tightening of nearly 1,000 fasteners on the Boxer under all conditions, supporting both field-level maintenance (MES II) and depot-level overhauls (MES III).

The system has proven effective in deployments such as Afghanistan, where secure fastening prevented potential large-scale recalls. Its versatility allows use across Bundeswehr wheeled and tracked vehicles. Verified by the German Army’s technical schools in Aachen, the kit carries NATO supply number 5180-12-381-8687.

Beyond the Boxer, HYTORC toolkits have been applied to other platforms, including the Dingo armoured vehicle, the Büffel armoured recovery vehicle, and the Eagle IV command vehicle. HYTORC solutions also support turret assembly on Leopard tanks, chain tensioning, and applications on MAN military trucks.

The toolkits centre on the Eco2Touch hydraulic pump and MXT-series torque wrenches, combined with adapters and sockets to accommodate torque, torque-angle, and yield-controlled fastening. According to Patrick Junkers, Managing Director of HYTORC Barbarino & Kilp, the systems ensure process reliability while documenting fastening operations for traceability.

HYTORC emphasises that its Defence Solutions align with industrial standards and can be reused across platforms, supporting sustainability and ease of use for maintenance personnel. “Working with familiar, proven tools not only improves fastening quality but also increases safety for mechanics in the field,” Junkers said.

The company will showcase further solutions for maintenance efficiency and safety at the Bundeswehr Logistics Forum on 9–10 September 2025 in Erfurt.
