At its first-ever Mobility Days event in Vienna, Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) presented the new TGS-Mil Protected – a modular, armoured logistics vehicle designed to meet the increasing demand for protected transport in modern military operations. With enhanced protection, configurable mission profiles, and compatibility with NATO fuel and standards, the vehicle marks a significant evolution in Rheinmetall’s TG truck series.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV), the joint venture between Rheinmetall AG and MAN Truck & Bus SE, has introduced a new protected variant of its TG-series military truck. Known as the TGS-Mil Protected, the new model was unveiled at the inaugural RMMV Mobility Days event and is now available in both 6x6 and 8x8 configurations.

The vehicle features a protected two-person cabin designed to current NATO standards. Its modular architecture allows tailored configurations for protection level, communications systems, and payload — enabling adaptation to a wide range of mission profiles. RMMV aims to serve both existing and new customers with a need for protected mobility, long-term efficiency and fleet harmonisation.

Built on commercial reliability, tailored for defence

The TGS-Mil Protected is powered by the MAN D2676 six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering up to 382 kW (520 hp) and 2,650 Nm of torque. The engine is compliant with Euro II, Euro V, and Euro VIe standards and is fully compatible with NATO F34 fuel. RMMV draws on proven civilian drivetrain and chassis components, simplifying global maintenance and service operations.

With all-wheel drive and robust off-road capability, the truck is engineered to perform in complex terrain — a critical requirement for today’s logistics in operational theatres. Importantly, the new vehicle complements RMMV’s existing unprotected TG variants. By using a shared modular platform, customers can now integrate both protected and unprotected vehicles into their fleets while reducing training, maintenance and life-cycle costs.

RMMV Mobility Days: showcasing innovation in land logistics

Held under the theme “Innovation in Motion”, the RMMV Mobility Days 2025 brought together 120 participants from 22 countries. The programme included a demonstration of TG and HX vehicles at an off-road site near Vienna, showcasing mobility performance and versatility. In addition, visitors were introduced to future technologies such as tele-operated driving and autonomous logistics platforms.

A highlight of the event was the tour of the company’s Vienna-Liesing production site, which has been modernised with digital manufacturing and logistics systems. The facility is now capable of producing up to 4,000 vehicles annually, including both HX and TG families, to meet growing international demand.

A heritage of military truck manufacturing

RMMV serves as the competence centre for military logistics vehicles within Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division. Headquartered in Munich, the company is a 51:49 joint venture between Rheinmetall AG and MAN Truck & Bus SE. With over a century of experience in military vehicle development, RMMV continues to evolve its product portfolio in response to global operational demands and technological advances.
