Busch Austria has equipped the new Space Factory at Vienna Airport with a high vacuum system that enables realistic space condition simulation.

With the official opening of the Space Factory at the ESA Phi Lab Austria at Vienna Airport, start ups and research organisations now have access to a modern environment for developments in the space and high technology sectors. Busch Austria GmbH is supporting the initiative with a vacuum system that recreates conditions found in space, enabling the development and validation of new products under realistic operating conditions.

The aim of the Space Factory is to provide young companies and development projects with easier access to professional infrastructure, thereby promoting the creation of new applications in space and technology development.

Through our contribution to the Space Factory, we want to provide young companies and research organisations with access to vacuum technology and thereby actively support the development of new applications," says Karl Blümel, Managing Director of Busch Austria GmbH.

The system provided by Busch Austria consists of a vacuum chamber, a HiPace turbomolecular vacuum pump, a HiScroll scroll pump, as well as measurement and control technology. The combination of these components enables the generation of high vacuum conditions required for the development, testing and validation of components intended for use in space.

Within the chamber, components, electronic units, materials and complete assemblies can be tested under realistic operating scenarios. These tests help developers assess the performance of their products at an early stage and make development processes more efficient.

Particular emphasis has been placed on ensuring simple and practical operation. Users can place their test objects inside the chamber, start the evacuation process and generate the required conditions. This gives start ups in particular access to professional vacuum technology without having to invest in complex infrastructure or develop specialised expertise themselves.

The system is available as a flexible environment for a wide range of research and development projects and provides an important technical foundation for activities within the Space Factory.
