The recent drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport (Germany) makes clear how quickly an initially unidentified airborne object can become a security risk. For companies, critical infrastructure operators and authorities, it is therefore not enough merely to establish that “something” is present in the airspace, explains Karlsruhe-based security company hensec, which focuses, among other things, on drone detection. Instead, a reliable situational picture is required: What is flying there? Where did it come from? What payload is it carrying? And what evidence is available for assessment and subsequent investigation?
