A working prototype is just the beginning. In aerospace and defence, traceable requirements, reliable test evidence and clear version control are essential to turning a promising solution into an integrable, certifiable product.

An aerospace and defence startup is developing a software module. The prototype works, and the demo is convincing. But a successful demo is only the beginning. Once the module is ready for integration into a larger system, the startup must be able to show exactly what was tested, which requirements were met, and which product version the evidence applies to. It must also be able to assess how subsequent changes could affect integration. In small development teams, technical decisions are often made through direct discussion. The people involved know the background and understand why a particular solution was chosen. Partners, however, need to be able to follow that reasoning too. Otherwise, it remains unclear how a product version was developed and what evidence supports its approval.
