"Metal needs to be as readily available as plastic," says Pilotarc CEO Alexander Noll. Together with Ben Groth, whose background is in the aerospace sector, the team developed a compact plasma cutting system. Pilotarc combines mechanical engineering, CNC technology, plasma technology, embedded systems and proprietary workflow software in a single integrated platform.

The company's focus is on decentralised manufacturing. When a metal component is missing or needs to be modified at short notice, armed forces often have to rely on centralised supply chains or external manufacturers – a process that can take days or even weeks. Pilotarc aims to make metal parts available exactly where they are needed: in workshops, containers, on vehicles and, ultimately, much closer to the operational environment.
