Rheinmetall has received a first call-off under the German Armed Forces Contractor Augmentation Program II—Stationary Accommodation (G-CAP II SU) from the Federal Office for Bundeswehr Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services (BAIUDBw). In Lithuania, the company will now act as general contractor to establish a modular camp for up to 2,000 soldiers, which is scheduled to begin operations in mid-August 2027. Once operational, Rheinmetall will be responsible for facility management, including laundry services, as well as catering. The contract value for establishing the modular facility amounts to EUR 250 million (approx. 280 million USD), while the value of the subsequent operation is EUR 40 million (approx. 46 million USD) per year. The G-CAP II SU programme provides stationary accommodation in theatre for soldiers deployed on missions and mission-equivalent commitments as part of international crisis management and national and collective defence, regardless of the climatic, geographical and geological conditions in the country of deployment. Pre-planned modular infrastructure secured under framework agreements—from manufacturing and transportation to construction, operation and dismantling—forms the core of G-CAP II SU. The G-CAP II SU project, initiated by BAIUDBw, is intended to enable commercial service providers to provide stationary accommodation in theatre. The ability to establish the necessary infrastructure through commercial industry helps conserve the Bundeswehr’s own resources so that they remain available for high-threat situations.

Rheinmetall handles the planning, manufacture, delivery—by sea, land or air, as required—and construction of camps worldwide, as well as, optionally, their autonomous operation for several years followed by dismantling.
