Teledyne Technologies has entered into an agreement to acquire the TransponderTech business from Saab AB, a leader in maritime communication and navigation technologies.

Based in Sweden, TransponderTech provides SOLAS-certified Automatic Identification System (AIS), VHF Data Exchange System (VDES), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) solutions for commercial maritime, military, and airborne applications. The company’s technologies include advanced anti-jamming and anti-spoofing capabilities, critical for ensuring secure operations in contested environments.

A pioneer in next-generation maritime AIS technology, TransponderTech has developed VDES systems offering enhanced data exchange capacity, improved security, and interoperability with low Earth orbit satellites, enabling global coverage for maritime operators. Following the acquisition, TransponderTech will join Teledyne FLIR’s Maritime group, which already includes Raymarine, FLIR Marine, and ChartWorld.

“TransponderTech serves markets familiar to Teledyne and designs complementary technologies that will significantly expand our navigation and safety portfolio,” said Grégoire Outters, Vice President and General Manager of Teledyne FLIR Maritime and Raymarine. “By integrating AIS, VDES, and GNSS capabilities with our existing products such as ECDIS, radars, and thermal imaging systems, we aim to deliver greater operational reach and efficiency for maritime customers worldwide.”

The transaction marks Teledyne’s twelfth corporate carve-out acquisition and the third such deal completed in 2025. Subject to regulatory approval and standard closing conditions, the acquisition is expected to be finalised in the fourth quarter of 2025.
