Drones as an integral part of the armed forces, the use of artificial intelligence for intelligence gathering and the growing threat posed by cyber attacks: defence today is unimaginable without digital technologies. Against this backdrop, Bitkom and DSEI Germany have agreed on a close partnership. As part of the cooperation, Bitkom will serve as the exclusive association partner for the Cyber & Information Zone at DSEI Germany. DSEI is regarded as one of the world's leading exhibition brands for defence and security technology and is already well established through events in London and Tokyo. From 9 to 12 March 2027, DSEI will be held in Germany for the first time at the exhibition grounds in Hannover (Germany).

“Defence technology is no longer developed solely by traditional defence contractors, and defence capabilities are no longer measured only by the size of the armed forces. Digital technologies, IT security and cyber capabilities have become essential to our country's security,” said Bitkom President Dr Ralf Wintergerst. According to a recent Bitkom study, almost three quarters (74 per cent) of companies in Germany expect an increased risk of hybrid attacks due to tensions between Russia and NATO. An equally high proportion (73 per cent) believe Germany is inadequately prepared by international standards, while only 12 per cent consider themselves well prepared.

“With our partnership with DSEI Germany, we are bringing together the innovative strength of the digital economy and defence technology startups directly with the German armed forces, security authorities and international partners,” Wintergerst added.

“Digitalisation is creating the new foundation for defence capabilities. Accordingly, DSEI Germany will feature a dedicated Cyber & Innovation Zone reflecting this development, mirroring the structure of the German armed forces,” said Bernd Kögel, Managing Director of DSEI Germany. “With Bitkom, we have gained the strongest voice of Germany's digital economy as our partner. This will have a significant impact on the exhibition's content.”

Bitkom will support DSEI Germany with technical expertise and provide strategic input, focusing on digital technologies, IT security and cyber security. The association will also be represented with its own stand at the exhibition as part of a joint pavilion for Bitkom member companies operating in the defence and dual use sectors.

With around 100,000 square metres (approx. 1.08 million square feet) of exhibition hall space and an additional 25,000 square metres (approx. 269,000 square feet) of outdoor exhibition space, DSEI Germany is one of Europe's largest defence and security exhibitions. The exhibition areas follow the structure of the German armed forces, covering the domains of Land, Air & Space, Naval, and Cyber & Information. The event will also feature an Industrial Solutions Zone highlighting enablers, Tier n suppliers and cross industry industrial technologies.

DSEI Germany is organised in partnership with Deutsche Messe AG and will take place from 9 to 12 March 2027 at the exhibition grounds in Hannover (Germany).
