FPS | Flexible Pallet System for High-Mix CNC Machining

FPS automates pallet handling for 4- and 5-axis machining centres used in small batch production. It provides defined pallet setups, MMS-controlled job release, and a documented flow of parts through the machining process. This supports repeatable results and enables unattended operation for approved part families.

Structured pallet handling in high-mix environments

FPS is intended for machining centres producing a wide range of parts with frequent changeovers. Pallets in the range of 300 × 300 mm to 630 × 630 mm are stored and delivered automatically, reducing manual setup work and ensuring that the correct fixture and part configuration is used. This is suitable for small and medium-sized components typically found in aerospace and defence supply chains.

Reproducible setups

Each pallet is assigned to a defined fixture and NC program. The system returns pallets to the machine in the same configuration in which the process was validated. This limits variability between shifts and supports consistent first-part results.

MMS-controlled job execution

All pallet movements and machine loading are managed by MMS. Jobs are released only when the required tools, program version, pallet, and machine are available. Incomplete jobs remain in the queue until all conditions are met. This avoids interruptions and keeps machining processes stable.

Documented production flow

Pallet transfers, machine operations, and job status are recorded automatically. This creates a consistent production history for each part without additional manual input.

Unattended machining of selected part families

When setups and resources are prepared in advance, FPS allows machines to run without operator presence for defined periods. The same control logic and documentation apply during attended and unattended operation.

Compact integration into existing machine layouts

Machines, storage positions, and load stations can be arranged around the system according to the available floor space. This allows additional capacity to be introduced without reorganizing the entire workshop.

Stepwise capacity increase

Additional pallets or machines can be connected while keeping the existing setup structure and control method. This allows production volume to grow without redefining established processes.
