Both companies are working together to bring Vertiports to fruition and are therefore evaluating the charging infrastructure needed for eVTOL operations and the repurposing of aircraft batteries.

As urban air mobility (UAM) moves ever closer to commercialisation, one of the key challenges is ensuring that vertiports can be reliably connected to the power grid and equipped to handle high-demand, high-frequency operations. This includes providing robust and sufficient power capacity, managing fast-charging cycles, and integrating new demand flows into existing energy systems.

Pooling Expertise

The agreement brings together complementary expertise from the energy and aviation sectors. Eve is driving the development of an eVTOL aircraft as well as a broader portfolio of UAM solutions, including aftermarket services, while Hitachi Energy is contributing its expertise and technologies in the areas of grid integration, power electronics, and charging infrastructure to support the scalable deployment of these systems.
