Mercedes-Benz wants to devote itself to the subject of drone technology. That is why there is a cooperation with Tytan. The two players have now signed a letter of intent to this effect on the fringes of the International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin, according to reports. The core of the cooperation is therefore a drone defense system for which the premium car manufacturer from Stuttgart is to provide the carrier vehicles - it will probably be a modified G model. The actual defence against drones will then be carried out with the system called Drone Defender.

And an appropriately adapted Mercedes Sprinter will serve as the basis for a mobile drone carrier. Incidentally, the Bundeswehr already uses the G-Class as the basis for the Wolf all-terrain vehicle, which replaced the Iltis decades ago. However, no details were given about a possible timetable or the level of possible investment. Mercedes-Benz boss Ola Källenius had already shown himself to be open to an expansion of the armaments business, as long as the whole thing is not economically nonsensical.
