Certifying multicore avionics computers to ED-12C/DO-178C objectives is quite challenging, but a path to success employs robust partitioning to prove that applications running on different cores are kept independent.
The aviation industry, in general, is risk adverse, and the subset that requires certification to the highest design assurance level (DAL A) is doubly so. Thus, it is no surprise that avionics suppliers have resisted attempting to certify applications executing on more than one core of a multicore processor to meet ED-12C/DO-178C objectives. It is hard. It is challenging. But it has also been done.
