Created as a non-profit association in June 2025, LuxDefence brings together more than 110 industrial and research actors active in defence, security, and dual-use technologies, at a moment when Luxembourg is scaling up its defence investment and industrial ambition.

In a short period of time, LuxDefence has already built a broad and representative membership. By early 2026, the association counted 110 member organisations, employing around 26,000 people in Luxembourg across all sectors, of which nearly 2,000 are active directly in defence, security, and resilience. Around 70% of members are small and medium-sized enterprises, often specialised in niche high technologies such as space systems, advanced materials, cyber and secure IT, logistics, drones and robotics, as well as consultancy and advanced engineering.

André Wilmes, President of LuxDefence and CEO of simulation software company Rafinex, said:

"Luxembourg's industrial and research communities are already – and have been for a while – deeply engaged in some of Europe's most critical defence and security technologies. The maturity and breadth of the Luxembourg ecosystem is not to be underestimated, with parts operational on many latest-generation platforms in the maritime, air, land, and space domains. Equally, the ecosystem has always proven itself to be a reliable partner of technologies, operational capabilities, and services to its allies in the EU and NATO. With LuxDefence we have created a coordinated federation where these actors can interact, innovate, and engage with partners at home and abroad. By joining ASD, we want to ensure that Luxembourg's companies are fully integrated into European and transatlantic value chains – and that our country plays its part in building a more resilient, sovereign, and competitive European defence technological and industrial base."

ASD Secretary General Camille Grand said:

"The emergence of LuxDefence as a vibrant national defence industry association is a very positive development for Luxembourg and for Europe. It shows how even smaller member states are mobilising their industrial ecosystems to support Europe's security, from space and cyber to advanced materials and logistics. Bringing LuxDefence into ASD will ensure that Luxembourg's voice and expertise are fully reflected in our work, and will help connect its companies to the wider European defence industrial community at a time when cohesion and scale are essential."
